Silky Soft Lotion

IMG_7374

I made this lotion for fun as I never tried lotions on my skin as I always thought creams worked better for my dry steroid-damaged skin. But I fell in love with this lotion due to it’s silkiness after application!I I think the glycerin (coconut oil based) and aloe vera gel really gives the skin moisture and softness with my usual favourite ingredients

Ingredients: purified water, aloe vera gel, glycerin, rosehip oil*, hemp oil*, emulsifier-o, coconut oil*, lavender essential oil*, geranium essential oil*, hyaluronic acid, geogard 221 (*organic).

Key ingredients and their properties

Aloe vera gel          Nourishing and soothing properties of Aloe Vera will provide numerous essential minerals, enzymes, vitamins, proteins and amino acids essential for cell growth and renewal.

Coconut oil            Coconut oil retains moisture content of the skin, protects skin from microbial infections, delays aging skin and softens skin. It contains vitamin E and proteins that keep skin healthy and rejuvenated, both internally and externally.

Emulsifying-O        Agent to blend liquid and oils together. PEG-free wax made from olives

Geogard 221          Preservative. Safe and ecocert approved. Needed when oils and liquids are combined to prevent bacteria growth

Geranium oil            Geranium oil is an astringent oil that prevents skin problems like sagging and wrinkling, and helps give your muscles a toned appearance. It contains antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties. It can help eliminate the appearance of scars and dark spots by improving blood circulation just below the surface of the skin and promoting an equal distribution of melanin. It aids to speed up the healing of wounds and stops toxins from reaching your bloodstream through open wounds.

Glycerin          Glycerin (also called glycerine or glycerol). Glycerin is a sugar alcohol which acts as a moisturiser (emollient) and humectant, meaning it absorbs water from the air. This glycerin is certified organic and is coconut-oil based. Most are palm-oil based.

Hemp oil                 Hemp seed oil is anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing, balances dry skin, fights skin inflammations, helps heal skin lesions, has antioxidants, and contains moisture balancing properties. Contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, D, and E.

Hyaluronic acid                Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring polysaccharide found in the human body; it acts as a cushioning and lubrication agent for our joints, nerves, hair, skin and eyes. The average human has approximately 15 grams of hyaluronan (hyaluronic acid) in the body, one-third of which is "turned over" (degraded and synthesized) every day. Incorporating hyaluronic acid in skincare topically acts as a powerful humectant that keeps skin plump and hydrated and young looking.

Lavender essential oil             Lavender is considered the most useful and versatile essential oil for therapeutic purposes. It is most often used for burns and healing of the skin, but it also has antiseptic and analgesic properties which will ease the pain of a burn and prevent infection. Lavender also has cytophylactic properties which promote rapid healing and help to reduce scarring.

Rosehip oil             Rosehip oil is extremely high in essential fatty acids and is known to help treat dry, irritated, weathered skin. It is also suitable for treating burns, scars and stretch marks. The oil’s rejuvenating and regenerating compounds with good quality vitamin C content will help with anti-aging and skin’s tone, elasticity and suppleness.

NOTE: Please patch test on skin first. Persistent skin conditions like acne and eczema, for example, are a reflection of internal issues. Please find a natural holistic approach to solve the root cause of the problem. You can read more about why we skin problems in my other healing blog: Bye Bye Steroids
